The Black Abyss Scanlations

We are The Black Abyss - a manga scanlation group dedicated to bringing you fast releases of Pandora Hearts, and our new projects Shiki and [Switch]!

New chapter releases will be posted in the Forum as we finish them, and you can find links for all of our scanlations in Projects.

So, while I was scanning in chapter 17 of Shiki, I noticed a huge mistake - our POV chapter numbers were off! I guess because we skipped doing them in the first scan, we had confused ourselves in the others.... Dunno. Anyway, my deepest apologies.

Just spent the past hour or so redoing them (and editing a few small errors here and there). Not that it changes anything in the plot, but if you'd like to see the correct POV chapter names, and the kanji meaning for chapters 12-15, it's in there now. And all links have been updated in Projects and in the Forum.

I'll try to work on re-uploading them to OM and MF later on, so the correct versions can be read online as well.

As for Shiki...as you might have known, we've been having some difficulty in finding Japanese raws, so I did something stupid...and I bought volume 6 myself! Silly, silly Aiakia... Anyway. Once it comes in, we'll begin work on it ASAP, though we're still in need of translators to help out (poor ~jewelledwings has been translating everything for us lately). So if you, or anyone you know can translate from Chinese or Japanese to English, please, please apply! We'll give you baked goodies and plushies and love you for~ever!!

We here at TBA were sad to hear that mellylemon, the current translator of [Switch] decided to drop the manga after finishing the 4th volume...until we realized that we could release it ourselves!

So, yes, we're picking up [Switch] as our new project. Enjoy!

Beef = solved.

After a fun-filled discussion last night, the issues with Shiki have been resolved. SnoopyCool is letting us have Shiki, and Cave has offered to QC for the project (which is pretty cool, as now we'll be getting some extra goodies that were in the tankoubon books, and a few HQ scans).

 So, let's put all of this craziness behind us, and enjoy us some Shiki~!

And, of course, thanks to everyone who supported us through this - we heart you guys!

Oh, yes, Shiki 13 and 14 are up and in the usual places. 

And for those of you who don't know...we've had a bit of an issue with the previous scanlation group, who's pretty miffed that we've picked up Shiki (noted in the forum, on onemanga, and our LJ community).

While we here at TBA don't consider picking up Shiki to be "stealing," nevertheless, we'd like to hear your take on it, so feel free to leave your opinion on it in our forum and/or onemanga.

As always, we'll update you as this fun story progresses....

Okay, I have good news and bad news...

Good News: I've finally finished proofing ch 12 of Shiki (took longer than I thought...hate when RL gets in the way~!) So after the typesetting and all that fun stuff, it should be good to go pretty soon!

Bad News: As some of you have already heard, Intercross rejected our proposal for a joint project with them (and, if you'll notice, they've just released ch 3 of Tori...so, if nothing else, maybe our suggestion will spur them into releasing Tori a little faster....) Anyway, this means any work on Tori goes on hiatus.  For now, let's just hope that Intercross releases Tori a little more quickly... 

edit: It was that Intercross had too many joint projects, (not that we did), hence the refusal.

Even though we here at TBA might seem to be slacking in our scanlating duties, we've been quite busy gathering two new members, working on Shiki, and other fun manga-related developments. Check 'em out!

New Members
Please give Qashqai and AuruLyn a hearty hello! They'll be working with us now as an editor and translator, respectively. (We're still looking for a Japanese >English translator, if anyone's interested *smiles pretty*)

Shiki 
I've been slacking in my proofreading duties. But, we are actively working on Shiki, and I'll send an email blast to everyone once we've completed our first chapter (btw, we're starting with chapter 12...so now's the time to play catch up if you haven't already read the first 11 chappies. You can find them online at mangafox.)

Torikago Gakkyuu
Man, finding raws for this one has proven VERY hard. We've been in pseudo-contact with Intercross (the previous scanlators) to see if we can work something out with them, but nothing official yet. If anyone can find the raws, please send them our way. ^_^

Other News
It's possible that we might be doing a joint project with another scanlation group. I don't want to say too much, in case it doesn't happen...but I'll keep you all updated!

Aiakia here, and yes, I AM evil. I took the poll down early. 'Cause, well, we've gotten such an overwhelming response for both Shiki and Tori that we're going to do BOTH.

Oh, yes. Both of 'em. 

We'll probably focus on Shiki a little more, though, because it's both easier to find raws for, and we can find it in Chinese for our wonderful translator to do what she does best. (And, technically it DID get more votes...)

For Tori...if someone could provide us with raws (either Chinese or Japanese) and help us translate, we'll release both equally. If not, it'll take a bit longer. I could try to translate it, but my Japanese isn't too great, so if anyone would like to volunteer...? (Or work together with me to translate?) We'd love you forever. Seriously. FOREVER!

Well, we'll be posting updates here as they come. Stay tuned!
